Beauty has taken many different forms over the last century.

From the slim and submissive looking Audrey Hepburn, to the more seductive Marilyn Monroe. Fast forward to the 90’s and the likes of Kate Moss lead the lineup with a slim figure, blonde hair and typically white features.

Over the past 10 years however the majority of the world have begun to take lead from black and latin communities by prefering women with thicker frames.

What’s strange is that the women mentioned above, Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe and Kate Moss would not get a second look from men under the age of 30 today. Those types of women could not appeal to them less, yet men from previous generations couldn’t believe what they were seeing.

women are better looking now

women are more beautiful

Go even further back and the above women look like angels compared to Helen of Troy, the woman that was so beautiful, an entire army went to war for her.

Can you image if those men saw the women we have walking around today? Their eyes would melt.

What’s really strange is how this trend has correlated with women of all races becoming thicker. Could this be an evolutionary response, or can we thank environmental factors for these changes?

Why are women getting thicker?

Evolution

It would be easy to say that women are evolving to suit what men like, but history tells us that evolution doesn’t occur this quickly.

Small evolutionary changes tend to occur over thousands of years, not a couple of decades.

However if we look at the Elephants of Mozambique we can see that they are being born without tusks in order to combat poaching, which is a change that has happened in less than 100 years.

Yet with that being said it’s still hard to believe that women are evolving in such a short space of time in order to out-compete one another for alpha female rankings.

Environmental factors

The more likely causation of women getting thicker comes down to the way they’re living in the modern era.

Having sex at a younger age:

It’s no secret that women are having sex at a younger age. It’s also no secret that women are having more sex with more partners. Once a woman starts to have sex, their hips begin to widen in anticipation for childbirth.

If women are having sex at an earlier age their hips are going to widen earlier. This is going to lead to more male attention and more sexual partners.

Science has shown that wide hips is a sign of more one night stands and more sex in general, this could be a direct correlation with the age of which women begin having sex. Generation Z are losing their virginity at the age of 16 according to studies with millenials losing theirs at age 17.

With modern women having sex earlier and more often during this youthful window, their brains are triggered to widen their hips during the years in which they are still growing.

The diets:

We all know by now that milk, cheese, meat, fast food, you name it, is full of growth hormones and estrogen. (Read our article which looks at how vegan men have 13% higher testosterone than meat eating men) with estrogen being the main female hormone and responsible for hip width, fat deposits and in relation breast size, we can start to see that the modern diet has a huge part to play.

Any woman under the age of 30 living in a developed country like the US or UK, had the opportunity to drink pints of milk daily, eat fast food on demand, gain access to alcohol incredibly easily, eat far more carbs than previous generations and take on large amounts of sugar with minimal energy expenditure.

Add all of this together and you have the perfect mix of HGH, (growth hormones) fat storages and low stress lifestyle which prevents the body from going into survival mode allowing the added size to be gained effortlessly.

Milk alone is essentially calf growth milk, when human men drink it they develop breasts, or what we would call man boobs. When women drink it they could be experiencing the same effects and becoming “thicker”.

Estrogen from other sources:

The modern world is full of plastics that amplify estrogen production within the body. Bad for men great for women. Even our water has a much higher estrogen content than it once did as it’s passed through so many people and plastic bottles that the concentration has shot up.

Many men are staying away from unnatural deodrants, shampoos, soaps, toothpastes and more as it has been found that these daily items boost estrogen production dramatically. With women using a plethora of beauty products on a daily basis this could also be adding to the extra estrogen. With female breast cancer rates skyrocketing over the past 50 years from hormone imbalances, the two topics would support one another.

Gym:

A much smaller influence is the rise in gym culture and how popular it has become to increase the size of your butt. Many women with slimmer frames have worked relentlessly to achieve a thicker lower body in order to immitate that of the most sought after women.

Sedimentary lifestyles:

In contrary to increased gym participation, there are still a large majority of people living sedimentary lifestyles. This includes sitting at a desk all day, catching the train home rather than walking, driving to close by locations, watching more TV, etc.

By living this way it’s only natural that fat storages are going to increase. Combine this with a sex life that starts earlier and is more frequent equating to wider hips and we have what would be coined a thick modern woman.

Alcohol consumption:

Alcohol is an easy way to get a lot of calories quickly via little effort. When a man drinks alcohol his testosterone drops and he fails to burn fat for 36 hours after. If the same is true for women, then they are experiencing sugar and estrogen increases every weekend which are naturally going to change the way your body looks.

Beauty aids

Of course we have to mention that surgery is a popular beauty aid in the modern era, but the percentage of women who choose or can afford such treatment is too small for it to be a major factor.

However it may be an influencing factor, as the women with surgery – The Kardashians and Jenners, are celebrated and positioned as body icons among younger women which sets us back down the evolutionary path which may or may not be changing female bodies.

Consistency across all races

The one thing we do know is that this is impacting all women across all races.

We’re familiar with seeing latina women and black women being thicker than their european, asian and middle-eastern neighbours. However it’s no longer uncommon to see a woman from any of the mentioned areas of the world with a figure more associated with Caribbean females.
