You decide to attack your legs with some brutal workouts this year because you’re fed up of that triangle like frame right?

So what’s the first thing you do? Many men will start searching leg exercise videos or articles which is normal we’ve all done it. But with one caveat.

We all type in “leg workouts for men” or “men’s leg exercises”.

Why do we believe men have different types of legs to women?

Especially in the modern era when a man having thick legs and thick glutes is seen as a big plus point. This is exactly what female leg days are based on.

In fact we believe that men shouldn’t just search for general leg day exercises, they should be taking notes from the women and incorporating a more female orientated leg workout into their leg days.

Legs that go on forever

One thing you’ll notice about females in the gym, is that they spend 90% of their time training legs and let cardio take care of the rest, with the occasional back workout or two.

The first message that men should take from women when it comes to leg days, is to increase frequency.

Instead of having a single leg day each week that occasionally you skip, try and incorporate 2 or 3 leg days per week.

In order to do this, you’ll again have to take note from the females.

Lifting heavy everyday on legs, is going to cause more aches and pains than you can imagine.

Females will lift light, with high reps and often. The combination enables them to perform legs up to 3/4 times per week which is a real game changer.

Follow this routine and throw in one heavier day where you feel comfortable.

Variation of exercises

But 1STMAN, forget all this chick shit, I already have a sick leg workout.

Let me guess, squats, leg curls, calf raises, lunges and leg press?

Most of us like to stay around our comfort exercises, which means we stop growing and we’re missing out on important movements for specific muscles.

For example, why would any man in their right mind do a “curtsy squat?”

“It’s not very masculine and I can’t put a lot of weight on.”

Number 1 you have to get past how it looks to do female exercises. People laugh until they see results, it’s always the same.

Secondly the reason you can’t do a lot of weight on curtsy squats or on kick backs or on the hip abductor machine is because you have a weakness in those parts of your legs.

Female leg exercises are very diverse, that’s why so many women are going from flat to thick in 1 year. As men we stick to a selection of 10 exercises and rotate them each week.

The majority of men believe that squats are a one fits all that works glutes and hip muscles better than anything else could.

Truth is, there are a whole range of movements that will train far more muscles collectively than squats can alone.

Most men have a serious glute weakness and lack of hip flexibility that female leg exercises will cure. Consequently this will improve your more “masculine leg exercises” as you’ll be well-rounded.

Cheat code

How many men have a partner or girl-friend who could help them at the gym by training together?

It takes a lot of humility for a man to go into a gym and take instruction from a female, but more men should do it proudly.

In fact I think if you can afford it, have a female personal trainer just for your leg days. Perhaps if you’ve really got some cash, have a male PT for upper body and a female PT for lower body days?

Two things are for certain, forget your ego, start searching female leg workouts ASAP and go use them in a gym near you.
