“A man’s reach should exceed his grasp”

This is a famous quote that too many people don’t embody when striving for what they want in life.

Many people chasing success will use obvious targets such as…6 months or 1 year. But you have to ask yourself, what’s stopping you from achieving these goals sooner?

In fact what can you do right this second that will give your journey a huge shortcut? It sounds too easy, but this is a realistic possiblity.

Millions of people are all chasing the same dreams at any one point, yet only a handful ever make it to the top. The people who end up being successful, and by successful I mean truly successful where you’re globally recognized. They all believe in themselves almost maniacally.

They will ask for things, attempt things and talk about things they’re nowhere near achieving yet. However this attitude is why they end up making it.

If you had a small company and your competition were 10 times bigger, yet your competition decided they weren’t ready for a certain risk and you did. Then regardless of size your smaller company is going to land that deal, get recognized or advance quicker.

The quote…“Showing up is 80% of life” couldn’t be more accurate but it’s difficult to understand until you become someone who shows up.

Showing up doesn’t mean having to be in a place physically. It could be as simple as submitting a form, throwing your name in the hat or even testing something out.

It’s the doers in life that learn quickest. Speculation and nervousness will hold you back if you let it. You have to believe you’re ready even when all of the evidence says you’re not.

Simply thinking that you’re going to get a no, is enough to get a no. Not through the power of law of attraction or anything like that, but because you aren’t giving yourself even a 1% chance if you don’t try.

Shortening Time Frames

Take McGregor and Mayweather. McGregor could’ve sat around wondering what level his boxing was at. Instead he stepped into the ring with the world’s best and received a benchmark.

Now he knows what’s possible. Now he knows where he sits. It’s far easier to make calculated decisions from this position and move forward quickly. If you constantly debate and question where you currently are, then you’re only speculating without any real concrete evidence that suggests you’re right which makes you delusional and misinformed.

Even if you attempt to do more and get told no, then atleast you know. Many people sit wondering what if for years, only to find out that it was all possible the entire time, they just didn’t gauge where they were very well.

You could aim for a promotion in 5 years time, yet little do you know, the boss has been considering you for the last 6 months. However your boss decided against it due to your lack of ambition and willingness to sit in your comfort zone.

Asking questions of yourself, your company, etc, is the best way to move forward. It’s always baffled me why people are scared of tests and challenges. This is and always will be the greatest way to learn and gather information.

“How good am I?”

“Are we big enough yet?”

“Am I what they’re looking for?”

There will only ever be one way to answer these questions…by putting yourself into the situations where you’re tested.

You may like the answer or you may receive a rude awakening, but either way you get an accurate gauge on where you currently stand and on what’s currently possible.

From this point your can build, grow and learn.

Now imagine doing this on a daily basis. Asking the right questions, getting the answers, improving or acting on them and then asking new questions based on the new position. You will achieve success at an alarming rate.

Being Afraid

The majority of people sit at around a 6 figure or a local business that makes a small profit level in their minds. They’re afraid to believe that they can be bigger and better.

But in reality what’s the worse that can happen? We’re all going to die one day and life is short. So why would you not take huge risks, stick your neck on the line or strive to be great?

Too many are afraid to say “I’m here am I good enough?”

There’s just too many options, possibilities and opportunities in the world for you to know every outcome. You could attend an audition, mess it up due to nerves, then land a different role in the same film as the bumbling, low confidence geek.

With all of these different paths it’s impossbile to predict every single one, therefore it makes sense to just show up, test yourself, question everything and reach beyond your grasp just incase.

Thinking Bigger

There’s so many quotes about thinking bigger, but this is why it actually works.

It’s rare!

For example. There are millions of real estate companies in the world, but only a handful that use 4k video to capture the houses. Most still use a HD camera, capture 10 snapshots and post them on their site.

The ambition business owner and future millionaire will use drones, 4k cameras, hire professional teams and post the footage everywhere.

This is because they’re thinking of the bigger picture. They’re not saying “is all of this neccesary”, or “are we ready for that yet”, or even “can we afford that?” They’re just concerned about rising above the masses, doing something bigger, better and of a higher standard that gets them noticed.

Most people copy, truly successful people seek. They ask “why not” and “how about this.” They get called delusional and crazy, but when that game changing opportunity comes around, they’re stood right there with open arms while everyone else calls it luck or right place at the right time.

There is no such thing as the right place at the right time or luck. You simply make your own luck and you show up everywhere until one of those locations becomes the right place.
