Some movies that we’ve enjoyed in the past just had a feeling of “too soon” about them.

Sometimes a film can have a great plot, a world class cast and a fantastic team behind it, however the film itself doesn’t quite live up to it’s potential due to nothing more than a lack of high level technology or facilities.

In other cases time is simply a films worst enemy. Classic movies from the 80’s would not be known by most movie goers alive today, which means that a remake is overdue.

We’ve listed 19 movies that would benefit from modern remakes below.

A Bugs Life

A Bugs Life was a great movie but missed out on being so much better because of the poor technology. With Disney constantly looking for new environments and worlds, A Bugs Life could be one that they revisit for a whole new audience.

The Matrix

The Matrix changed the world. However the technology for the time was a little rudimental in comparison with today. The Matrix would benefit enormously if combined with modern day technology, but it’s a huge risk for whoever takes it on.

Falling Down

Falling Down is a classic and more relevant today than ever before. So many people would be able to relate to the stressful breakdown the main character goes through in the plot.

Braveheart

A huge risk for the person who decides to ever do this, but there’s also potential for billions in profits. Modern camera skills combined with the knowledge of all war-like films that have been made since the original Braveheart could create a spectacular film.

Casino

Goodfellas is untouchable, but Casino may just be on offer for a brave director. Las Vegas still has an underworld of crime and this could once again be investigated.

Oceans

Oceans may still be alive with the same old characters, but it’s looking ever likely that a return won’t happen after a female Oceans movie featuring Rihanna was shot. There’s certainly potential for Oceans to follow a Fast & Furious route by combining an all-star cast of men and women into a casino stealing team with cars, lavish shots and humor. (Bradley Cooper would be the perfect lead)

iRobot

iRobot had so much potential but was limited by the technology. After seeing Ultron in Avengers, the Robots would certainly look better in the modern era.

which movies should be remade

LA Confidential

One of the best crime thrillers of all time and still worth a watch today. However a whole generation haven’t watched this film and modern cameras could really give this film a boost. As long as the cast lives up to the previous cast then this could be a hit, but again dangerous.

Jerry Maguire

As Neymar becomes a £198m signing, the world of sport has never been more lucrative. This means that people would be very interested in the life of a sports agent like Jerry Maguire. Going down the Entourage movie route and adding in real life sports stars would also add extra elements to this film.

Catch Me If You Can

A great plot but becoming unrelatable in terms of what a young man would do after running away from home. A modern remake would really spice things up a notch.

Antz

The Antz film is very much like A Bugs Life, a film with a great idea behind it but the technology let it down. Antz could be revamped in the modern era and would make Disney hundreds of millions.

The Island

A complex plot but probabaly more plausible in the modern era. This film also included a lot of technology and was set in the future, this makes it perfect for modern film teams to work on.

Space Jam

This film is already being remade, the only stall is coming from who to cast as the lead. LeBron James is the choice of the directors, but they feel as though Kobe is more popular and would make them more money.

Children Of Men

With men’s semen levels deminishing and infertility rates being higher than ever, Children Of Men is needed again to remind people of a potential issue that we may face in the next 30 years. Plus the original film wasn’t as good as it could’ve been.

The Great Escape

One of the best films ever made. Who wouldn’t want to see a modern version of this film? Special effects would ruin this movie, but great filming, angles and casting would remind the world how great this was.

Artificial Intelligence

AI is becoming increasingly dangerous and this film touches upon the reality of robots living among us. We’ve seen success with Ex-Machina and Chappie, so Artificial Intelligence could be next.

Anastasia

An animated movie with a pretty crazy plot that just screams real-life big screen movie. There’s so much that can be done with this animation in a more gritty way that appeals to adults. It’s made it’s way to theatres so now the movie seems logical.

The Beach

One of Leonardo DiCaprio’s earliest films and a plot that blew people’s minds. This film could be replicated today as travel and gap years become an ever-trending thing.

Deep Impact

An all action film that again would improve enormously from modern technology. The acting was also a little false and could certainly be improved.
